Katalin Karikó mentioned me on Kossuth Radio

Sometimes, even an ordinary email can start an extraordinary story. This is how I got in touch with Professor Katalin Karikó in 2021.

At that time, due to my rare disease, I was looking for answers to questions regarding COVID vaccination. I contacted several organizations and experts abroad, and finally decided to write to her as well.

I was very pleased that she replied and took the time for my questions. She explained the principle of mRNA vaccines to me and provided information that helped me make a decision. I also discussed the next steps with my immunologist. Our email communication did not end there — I am still in contact with Professor Karikó today.

On April 19, 2022, she mentioned me during an interview on Kossuth Radio. I might not even have known about it myself if my family hadn’t caught the interview. When they told me about it, I immediately looked up the recording in the archive. It was a very pleasant surprise for me to hear that she mentioned me in the radio interview as well.

I sincerely thank Professor Karikó for her time, willingness, advice, and help. I greatly appreciate that, despite her busy schedule, she found space for personal communication with me.
