With Epidermolysis Bullosa, daily wound care is very important. The skin is extremely sensitive, and even small injuries can cause painful wounds or blisters.
On this page, I list the medical supplies I use for wound care, skin cleaning, and protecting sensitive areas. These are items that help me with daily skin care and that I use based on doctors’ recommendations or my own experience.

Dressings and Bandages
Mepilex Ag 17.5×17.5cm
Mepilex Ag is an antimicrobial foam dressing designed for treating low to moderately exuding wounds and burns. It contains silver, which helps reduce the risk of infection in the wound.
My mom uses this dressing mainly for larger and deeper wounds that aren’t very weepy but need protection from infection and irritation.
Mepilex XT 20×20 cm
Mepilex XT is a highly absorbent foam dressing designed for wounds with more exudate. Thanks to its special structure, it can effectively absorb fluid from the wound and maintain a suitable environment for healing.
My mom uses this patch mainly for wounds that weep more. The dressing has small channels that can soak up more exudate (wound fluid), blood, or pus.
Mepilex Lite Silicone Dressing
Mepilex Lite is a thin foam dressing designed for treating wounds with less exudate. Thanks to its gentle structure, it is also suitable for sensitive skin.
We use this dressing mainly for wounds that aren’t deep and don’t leak much. It helps protect the skin while being gentle during changes.
STERILUX ES non-sterile compress
Sterilux are medical gauze squares designed for wound care. They are soft, absorbent, and used for cleaning wounds or as a protective layer when covering a wound.
We use them mainly for cleaning wounds or treating the skin before applying patches and dressings.
VIDRA gauze roll (90 cm × 10 m)
Hydrophilic gauze in a roll is used as a basic medical supply for wound care. It is soft, breathable, and absorbs fluids well.
When treating wounds, we use it mainly as a protective layer or to cover wounds along with other patches and dressings. It helps protect the wound from dirt while allowing the skin to breathe.
TG-FIX tubular net bandage
TG-FIX is an elastic net bandage used to fix patches and dressings in place. It helps keep medical supplies in the right spot without the need for adhesive tape.
I use it mainly to secure patches and dressings on various parts of the body so they don’t shift during movement.
Hydrophilic knitted bandage
We use the hydrophilic knitted bandage to fix medical supplies and wound dressings. It is flexible and adapts well to the shape of the body.
We most often use it to hold gauze or dressings on feet and knees so the material stays in place and the wound remains protected.
The bandage is breathable, soft, and suitable even for sensitive skin.
Creams, Ointments, and Sprays
Belogent cream
Belogent is a medicinal cream containing an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory component. It is used for various skin problems and skin inflammations.
I use this cream on certain wounds or irritated areas of the skin where it helps reduce inflammation and supports healing.
Aloe Vera Gelly
Aloe Vera Gelly is a natural gel containing aloe vera that helps hydrate and regenerate the skin.
I use it on various minor injuries or skin irritations where it helps promote healing.
Calcium Pantothenicum cream
Calcium pantothenicum is a cream containing vitamin B5, which supports skin regeneration. It is used for skin irritation, minor wounds, or dry skin.
I use this cream mainly for smaller injuries or irritated spots on the skin.
Epaderm Cream
Epaderm Cream is a moisturizing cream designed for dry and sensitive skin. It helps soften, hydrate, and protect the skin from drying out.
We use it mainly on dry scabs and dry skin. The cream helps soften the skin so that scabs loosen more easily and the skin can regenerate better.
TENA Body Lotion
TENA Body Lotion is a moisturizing body lotion designed for dry and sensitive skin. It contains substances that help hydrate the skin and maintain its natural protective barrier.
I use it mainly on dry skin to keep it hydrated and less prone to irritation.
Forever Aloe First
Forever Aloe First is a spray containing aloe vera that helps soothe the skin.
I use it, for example, for skin irritation, insect bites, or minor wounds. It helps soothe the skin and supports its regeneration.
Wound Cleaning
Prontosan wound irrigation solution
Prontosan is a special solution designed for cleaning wounds. It helps remove dirt, bacteria, and biofilm from the wound and creates a suitable environment for healing.
I use it when cleaning wounds before applying patches or other dressings.
Hygiene
Tena Wash Mousse / MoliCare Cleansing Foam
I use these cleansing foams for gentle cleaning of the skin and wounds. They are suitable for sensitive skin hygiene and help keep the skin clean without irritation.
I use them mainly during daily hygiene and wound cleaning.
Other Aids
Kolodium forte (for corns)
Kolodium is a liquid preparation used, for example, to treat corns or thickened skin.
I use it mainly for a corn on my foot. A corn can be very painful and makes walking difficult, so this product helps gradually soften the affected area.
Predator mosquito and tick repellent
I use Predator repellent mainly during the summer months or when spending time outdoors in nature. It helps repel mosquitoes and ticks.
With Epidermolysis Bullosa, an insect bite can be very unpleasant. After a mosquito bite, the area often swells significantly and a hard lump forms on the skin. Later, a blister can also form at this spot.
That’s why I try to protect my skin with repellent to prevent such problems as much as possible.
